Tammy Nicholls

tears-of-envy

Tammy Nicholls, going by the name Tears of Envy, has been doing graphic design in games for around a decade. Currently, she’s lead graphic designer at Games Workshop in Nottingham, and previously she’s done work on a host of board and role playing games. Check out her portfolio here, and her astonishingly good tumblr of inspiration here.

She’ll be speaking about world building at Feral Vector via her fictional corporation THESIS Industries.

Alice O’Connor: readme.txt

aliceO

Navigating the receding street lights of London like constellations of data nodes, fully qualified Cyberpunk Alice O’Connor will be joining us to help us explore the wonderful, obscure and sometimes downright rude world of readme.txt files.

By day, Alice works for Rock, Paper, Shotgun writing about all things news and games, as well as hating on lynx cubs.

By night, she shows off her Windranger Dota2 Skills as well as being a part of the ranks of roughhousers who run indie party night extraordinaire The Wild Rumpus, where part of her job involves making (frankly terrifying) custom controller covers.

Feral Vector 2014: Tim Hunkin

Posted on: 1 Comment

We’re very pleased indeed that Tim Hunkin will be speaking at Feral Vector on July the 4th. Tim is an engineer and cartoonist who’s spent decades building incredible machines, sculptures, installations and things for museums, galleries, and his own Under the Pier Show. He also made a TV series in the 80’s, titled The Secret Life of Machines. It was made largely in his own garden and workshop, at a time when when risk assessments weren’t such a thing; Here are Tim and Rex doing a glorious demonstration of how a light bulb works.

Now he runs the Under The Pier Show in Southwold, which is full of home built and hacked mechanical arcade machines. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but Mobility Masterclass and My Nuke are definitely up there.

As well as the things he’s built, Tim will have something really exciting to talk about on the 4th.
