MORE THINGS! MACHINES FOR THE MACHINE GOD! PRESENTERS FOR THE EXTEMPORANEOUS THRONE!

Posted on: No Comments

Dr. Caligula’s Pirate Willy Workshop might be impossible to reproduce, even with the best colour photocopier. We hope you’re ready. Wetgenes will be running it at Feral Vector, and we’ll say no more for now.

DOOM! The DOOM Piano is returning to life and will be at Feral Vector. Built in 2013 with a host of designers including Sos Sosowski, George Buckenham, and Jonatan van Hove, we got quite a few accusations it was faked. It wasn’t. It’s a fully functional piano that also creates keyboard input, and runs a custom build of DOOM. Here’s a video of Martin Hollis playing it. We’re bringing it up to Yorkshire and refurbishing it. Here’s a photo of the not-durable-enough guts we put in it the first time:

Henrike Lode will be travelling over from Copenhagen to give an expanded version of her talk “Games No One Wants To Make With Me“. Henrike is also one of the developers behind Machineers, but has many, many other ideas for games. Such as:

“This is nipple effect. I want to make game where you’re presented with a picture of breasts that you have to identify as male or female, and if you think they’re female you have to cover the nipples with a picture of male nipples, but if you accidentally place male nipples on male breasts you lose because that’s censorship.”

More Speakers, Things and Games

We’re excited to announce our next bunch of speakers, doers, and things: Katharine Neil! Elizabeth Simoens! Alex Roberts! Overcooked! Line Wobbler! Chalo Chalo!

Bizarre co-op kitchen sim Overcooked will be playable. Here’s a gif of some chefs in space:

Katharine Neil will be travelling over from Paris to speak. Katharine began her game development career in 1998, led the team behind the Escape from Woomera; and following her escape from AAA has worked on indie games including her own Alone in the Park and Lady Shotgun’s Buddha Finger. She also recently completed a PhD on experimental game design tools.

BOOOOM! Feral Vector is back. In case you didn’t see yet, tickets are available right this very second from ti.to. We have a whole heap of exciting things planned for Feral Vector this year.

Emily Short will be speaking about interactive narrative structures, and Humble Grove will be showing their new, beautiful point-and-click thing 29, of which here are some incredible gifs:

Here’s a bathroom, and here’s a rather large gif showing an exterior, so we’re linking it instead (more of their work on tumblr and twitter).

Local multiplayer game Flat Heroes will be playable there (it’s being crafted in Manchester, which I guess makes it local local multiplayer?), as well as Team Lazer Beam‘s Wrestling With Emotions. Can you create a pro wrestler and find their perfect match?

We also particularly want to focus on making stuff this year. TO THAT END:
